Who in the hell told the matte teams for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow to go and make everything to goddamned stupid-looking? The backgrounds were good and all -- by themselves -- but it's like someone decided that more Photoshop filters=More awesome. I don't know more than the barest bit about how matching live actors to a fake background works, but if you need to do all that just to try and make things mesh, then maybe the rendering capabilities of, uh, more than two years ago, just aren't up to the challenge. It was like that stupid Final Fantasy movie all over again.
At least Lawrence Olivier wasn't dancing with a vacuum.
